Samaia Restaurant

Samaia

Photo report for the Georgian restaurant Samaia, located in Bilbao

Samaia pays tribute to Queen Tamar of Georgia, the first woman to rule the nation in the 12th-13th centuries, embodying strength, grace and leadership. The name is inspired by the Georgian Samaia dance, performed by three women, symbolizing beauty, collaboration and connection. In the heart of Bilbao, three Georgian women unite their roots and passions to bring Samaia to life, carrying forward tradition, sharing their heritage through cuisine and hospitality. Samaia contacted me for the first time to do a report on the opening of the establishment, where photos of the dishes and the opening event were taken. The restaurant has been packed since its opening. Later they contacted me again both to take photos of the dishes and to have content for social networks, as well as portraits of the founders and cooks and photos of the space they have. For the plate and portrait photos I used my Fujifilm brand equipment and Godox lighting equipment, brands I have worked with for years. For the space photos I mounted the camera on a tripod and used the decentering lenses used in architectural and interior photography. I leave you a summary of the reports we have done during this time.
